Naked Yoga

The practice of performing the naked yoga is an Indian practice of yoga. The date of its beginning in India is not known. But naked yoga is finding popularity in the western world too. This trend seems to have economically appealed to people as it doesn’t need even a mat or loose-fitting clothes. In the western world it has been preferred since 1960s and was shown in several movies namely in 1968 film “Bob&Carol&Tedand Alice”. An American man named Jayadey started a group called “Midnight Yoga for Men” where they practiced naked yoga. The founder of naked yoga, Meredith Medland, is regarded to have made this concept popular in the world. A supporter of this concept once said that it helped him to focus on keeping his body and mind together. [1]

Psychic relief of naked yoga

The supporters of naked yoga feel that it gives them relief to cure their psychic problems. Those who are used to doing this type of yoga said that they wouldn’t be able to practice yoga with clothes on. This natural way of yoga provides them complete freedom from the worldly shackles. It made them forget materialistic world and their body presence as well. The criticism of it has been raised all over the world. But we should keep in mind that naked yoga is meant to unite the body, mind, and soul. Moreover, this type of yoga is not meant for people who are looking at the sexual organs of others

Naked yoga facing criticism

Since this kind of yoga is not praised openly by anyone, the condemnation of naked yoga is obvious in this world and will never be accepted by the society as such. Moreover, this type of yoga is seen as sexual and shameful for the people. The very notion of naked yoga to be performed publicly seems to be horrifying for the learners to digest from the core of their heart. And especially for women, even the dreaming of practicing it with strangers, can’t be made possible on any account and is sheer unbelievable, inconvenient and immoral for their lives.
